GREAT NEWS!!!!!

First Congregational Church members have called a Settled Pastor!

This past weekend was packed with a sense of anticipation, curiosity, excitement, and finally, great joy, as we got to know Rev. Janice E. Hill.

Saturday’s meet and greet opportunities were well attended with many members asking pertinent questions regarding Rev. Hill’s background, life and work experience and theological direction.

The Sunday service and congregational meeting were filled with anticipation, excitement and joy as we worshipped, prayed and sang with Rev. Hill.  She delivered her sermon with passion, humor, and a strong Biblical basis and was well received by those in attendance.

Following the worship service, members took the opportunity to vote for her as our Pastor with an overwhelming majority (98%!!!) saying “Yes!”

We look forward to her coming in January, 2019.

Women’s Fellowship Retreat

Several years ago, George Lillyman “bought” a weekend at Pat Hillman’s cabin in Wilsonia during a church fund raiser.  He and Fran gifted Women’s Fellowship with that weekend and our annual retreat was begun.  This year June ends with George’s memorial service and July ends with the traditional retreat that his generosity began.  Ladies, save the weekend of July 28 and 29 for our retreat. We begin Saturday morning with a brunch and worship, spend time enjoying the wonders of the high Sierras and deepen our commitment to our God, our church and each other.  On Sunday, we again share worship (think of music with Gloria’s flute and Susan’s clarinet) and fellowship together. It’s a precious time.

Where?   Pat Hillman’s cabin at Wilsonia

When?    Saturday and Sunday, July 28&29

What should I bring?    Sheets and pillow case (there are both double and single beds), towel and wash cloth, light jacket, comfortable shoes, flashlight, any favorite snacks to share.

Carpooling?  Yes!  If you’re willing to drive or need a ride, call Nancy Hoyt at 686-5528.  We’ll link you up.  Meet at the church on Saturday at 8:30 AM.

Cost?  We ask for a 10$ donation to cover the cost of food.

May I come for just one day?  Yes!  Some ladies come for Saturday only. Whatever fits your schedule?

This is a wonderful weekend of worship and fellowship. Just call Nancy Hoyt, Gloria Hamilton or Peggy DeMuth or the church office at 686-5528 to let us know you’re coming!  See you there!!!
